Opening Leads
Earlier we looked at some criteria for choosing an opening lead. In MiniBridge you have information about everyone's high-card points, much more information than in Bridge. However, in Bridge you learn more about the distribution and about the likely location of those high cards.
In addition to the suggestions made earlier, some other suitable candidates for opening lead can be added:
Lead your partner's suit. If you have three worthless cards in it (6, 5, 3), lead the highest (6) against a no-trump contract, or the middle card (5) against a trump contract. If you have a doubleton honour (queen, 6), lead the honour (queen). If you have three cards or more with an honour in his suit (queen, 6, 5), lead your lowest card (5).
Lead an unbid suit. Sometimes when the opponents fail to mention a particular suit in their bidding it can indicate a serious shortage of strength there. If your partner has any high cards at all they are most likely to be in this suit.
